Cristie Reddehase

Diamond and Platinum 2019 Medalist

Cristie competed in Professional Photographers of America 2019 International Competition and is thrilled to announce that she once again was named a Diamond and Platinum Medalist. In 2019, they were one of only 20 Diamond Photographers of the Year, and only 37 Platinum photographers of the Year.

A panel of 36 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from over 5,200 total submitted entries at PPA headquarters in Atlanta. Judged against a standard of excellence, 2,654 images were selected for the General Collection and 625 (roughly 12 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated "Loan Collection" book by Marathon Press. All 8 of Cristie’s images were selected as part of the General Collection, and 7 out of the 8 were selected for the Loan Collection.

Four of Cristie’s images have also been selected to be in the running for this year's Grand Imaging Awards. The winners will be announced at the national convention held in Nashville, Tennessee, January 19-21, 2020.

Family Portraits | What to Wear | Silver Image Photography | Spring, TX

Cristie Reddehase

What do I wear for family portraits?

If we had time, we would love to be able to go with each person and help them choose the best clothes for their portraits. Unfortunately, we don't. Don't fear though! We have a few helpful tips that will help you in your wardrobe selection! Keep in mind, clothes are supposed to enhance the photos. Not be a distraction!

  1. You want to coordinate but not match exactly! Choose complementary or analogous colors and mix it up! If everyone wears the same white shirt and blue jeans...it looks a little too matchy-matchy.
  2.  Solid colors are usually the best choice. If you choose to wear a pattern, make sure it's small...no crazy zebra strips. You don't want to be the only person someone notices when they look at the portrait.
  3. Everyone should know the rule that darker colors make things look smaller. If you are worried about your weight, don't wear a white or neon shirt!
  4. Change up the clothing styles. Have one person wear jeans, one person in a dress, one in khakis, etc.
  5. Don't forget accessories! Jewelry, scarves, hats....
  6. Make sure your shoes match! We don't want crazy colored tennis shoes that don't match anything. The only thing you will notice in the portrait are the neon shoes. So, either dress shoes, casual shoes, or color matching tennis shoes.
  7. We are creating a piece of art to hang on your wall. Think about where you will be hanging your family portrait. You want to choose clothes that will complement your style and decor. If you don't have anything red in your house, then don't choose red to wear in your family photo.

We suggest laying everyone's clothes out together, either on the floor or the bed. If there's one item that really seems to stick out...try to find something else.

Santa's coming to town!
ONE DAY ONLY - NOVEMBER 21st

Our 'Visit with Santa' session are some of our favorite sessions that we do during the year. It's so magical to see the kids just light up when they see the man in red. Do you remember that feeling? You know...that feeling and belief in something that is magical and mysterious? I mean, come on...he brings you toys! I think some of our clients can describe that feeling better than we can. Read below to find out what this family thought about their 'Visit with Santa' at our portrait studio!

Silver Image has helped create a new tradition for our family...a tradition that will be captured year after year on camera.
— Laura Peterkin

We would like to sincerely thank Silver Image for the wonderful job they do in not only providing beautiful portraits of our children, but also taking the time to ensure that they have fun and remember the experience. Our time with both Melinda and Cristie has been nothing less than magical, and we can't express enough appreciation for what they have done. Not only do we have magazine-worthy images of our children that we will cherish forever, they went out of their way to make sure our kids got to spend quality time with Saint Nick, even our 8 year old. When the "big guy" surprised them, the sheer excitement  and innocence in their faces brought tears to our eyes. In the several months since out last session, they have not stopped asking us when they'll get to go back and see Santa again. For us, the Christmas season can alive that day.

If the experience alone wasn't enough, the portraits are truly incredible. We haven't found anywhere else that compares in quality. Everyone that sees them asks where we have our kids photographed, and that they've never seen Christmas photos as authentic. Silver Image has helped create a new tradition for our family...a tradition that will be captured year after year on camera.
